# 1.3 Architecture (High-Level Flow)

GateKey operates as a structured token-gated access protocol built on BNB Smart Chain. The system is designed around a predictable participation flow where users interact with the protocol through staking, membership validation, and reward distribution cycles.

At a high level, the GateKey architecture follows a sequence of actions that begins with wallet authentication and ends with active membership participation. Each step is executed through deterministic smart contract logic, ensuring consistent behavior across all users.

The first step in the process begins when a user connects a supported wallet to the GateKey interface. The wallet serves as the user's identity within the protocol, replacing traditional login credentials. All permissions and privileges are derived directly from the wallet’s token activity rather than external account systems.

Once connected, the user obtains GKT tokens through supported distribution methods such as token exchanges or ecosystem allocations. These tokens act as the foundational unit required to activate membership status within the protocol.

Membership activation occurs when users stake GKT tokens into the locking mechanism. The number of tokens staked determines the user's membership tier. Higher staking amounts unlock progressively higher levels of access and participation privileges.

After staking is completed, the protocol automatically assigns a membership tier based on predefined thresholds. This process is executed through snapshot-based validation cycles, ensuring that membership states remain consistent and verifiable on-chain.

With membership active, users gain access to gated resources, campaigns, and protocol features associated with their assigned tier. These may include exclusive participation opportunities, governance privileges, and reward eligibility.

Rewards are distributed through epoch-based settlement cycles. During each epoch, the protocol calculates reward allocations according to staking balances and membership levels. Eligible users accumulate rewards that can be claimed or restaked to increase long-term participation weight.

This architecture enables GateKey to operate as a continuous participation loop rather than a one-time transaction. Users can increase their membership level, maintain their status, or withdraw participation according to their preferences, while the protocol maintains consistent rule enforcement through smart contract execution.
